Yesterday, Tuesday, December 7th, My Blog dealt with the whole subject of Defining Deviancy Down.- A phrase originated by Patrick Daniel Moynihan, A scholar and a former United States Senator from New York. This idea is that people, for social convenience and political correctness rationales, are told that traditional standards are exclusive, punitive and mean spirited and that we all become better people by adjusting to anything and everything we can possibly permit ourselves to adjust to.
So, People urinating in public and really not caring how many people are around them as they do so or how people might be offended by their action.People ride buses screaming into cell phones and broadcasting conversations filled with vulgar words- well, " Who Am I to say that this is uncouth and not acceptable."Illegal Aliens are referred to as " New Americans" by the Governor of The State of Maryland. It seems he forgot the idea of a process needing to be gone through to achieve this status n a legal and proper manner.
A society does better when asking people to aspire is emphasized over saying and de-facto MANDATING that the best that the poorest. least educated and those very LOOSELY connected to society- no matter why this is so- are the measure of the best we can expect from anyone in this society! This is not sustainable and it creates an aesthetically nightmarish, befouled and debased society
So, No " It isn't all Good" some of what we have going on around us is repulsive and offensive. and NO!!!!, " It isn't on yo/!", There are laws to be obeyed and standards of decency and health and cleanliness that saner, intelligent, discerning and respectable people know are EXCELLENT to follow!
One upon a Time in America, Slumming was considered to be a grievous and insulting way to behave to dress down act as if you are less educated and acting as if you are unaware of the standards of good public conduct! How do we all benefit by slumming become the current and continuing norm of the United States?
